Living History in Your Classroom!

Charleston Pirate Tours can come to your venue... whether it's a classroom or a convention hall.  We bring history alive and make it fun for the students.

Of course, our authentic, period apparel and  our parrots immediately capture the attention and imagination of the children.

No matter what grade, from preschool to college, we can customize a program for your school to cover any aspect of Charleston history from the Colonial Period through the 20th century.  Just let us  know your curriculum standards, and we'll prepare a program for your class.

Some of our education program choices

From 1670 to Today

Popular topics for our education programs and in-school field trips include Colonial Life, Charleston's role in the Revolution,  the Antebellum period, Civil War, Gullah Culture, Charleston Ghosts, and  our most popular program, “Golden Age of Piracy."

We can also bring our popular Treasure Hunt to your location and make history interactive for the kids!

Older kids love our Ghost and Gullah Legends program.  Teachers, don't worry...  the stories are historically based, so your students are learning and don't even realize it!

We even shared ghost stories with high school students during dinner on the hangar deck of the USS Yorktown, a WWII aircraft carrier.

"When Eric Lavender walks into the room all activities cease, and the attention is totally focused toward the dreadlocks, the swashbuckling outfit and the parrot.  His stories of life on the Carolina coast as a pirate come alive and his audience is mesmerized.  Eric presented a program for the Edgar Allan Poe library and we are still talking about it.  His attention to detail, his life-like appearance and his ability to tell stories are all part of his alter ego.  The magic comes alive. He is truly a wonderful teller of stories."  Jeri England, Manager, Edgar Allan Poe Library, Sullivan's Island.
